Scottish Tourism Ephemera Collection

This collection of materials consists of ephemeral items related to travel and tourism in Scotland in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It includes materials such as brochures, pockets guides, receipts and other materials of an ephemeral nature produced for and by the tourism industry in Scotland with materials related to the beauty of Scotland as a destination, hotel culture, and sporting culture, predominantly golf, including material about Gleneagles, and cycling. These include materials produced predominantly by railway and transport companies, such as Caledonian & London & North Western Railways, Thomas Cook & Son, London and North Eastern Railway (L. N. E. R.), the London, Midland, and Scottish Railway, British and Irish Railways, North British Railway, and David MacBrayne Ltd. There are also materials related to various hotels, as well as travel associations. Materials in this collection have been purchased, with fuiture acquisitions expected.
