Getting Started with University Writing and Research

Last week, we featured online resources for procrastination, time management, and studying. This week, we’ll be introducing and directing you to some library guides that we think may be of use to you regarding university level writing and getting started on your research.

University essays

This guide is all about university essays and will teach you what it means to write a university essay and direct you to helpful information about getting started on your research and finding sources for your papers.

Lab or research reports

This guide defines what a lab or research report is and provides information about how you can improve your report, defines the parts of a report, and directs you to helpful writing resources.

Academic integrity

Academic integrity – what is it? It’s a code of ethics for teachers, students, researchers, and staff. This guide will introduce you to what it means for you as a member of the U of G community and provides examples of academic misconduct. Scholarly articles

This guide provides you with an introduction to scholarly articles – important resources you’ll use throughout your academic career. The guide outlines what a scholarly article is, how to identify and find scholarly articles, tools you can use to find articles, and other helpful resources.

This guide is all about how to choose the best info for the project you’re working on. It’ll also provide reference to help with citing your sources, no matter what disciple you’re writing for.
