Several BBC Top Ranked International Films Available via Library’s Website
BBC Culture recently compiled a list of the 100 greatest international films based on polling of critics. The list highlights films in many languages other than English, including French, Mandarin, Italian, and Japanese. A quarter of the films ranked are from East Asian countries such as Japan, China, and Taiwan.
A number of these films are available to University of Guelph students, staff, and faculty through Kanopy, the video streaming platform for libraries and educational institutions. Members have access to some of the greatest films of the past century, including BBC Culture’s top five international films:
- Seven Samurai (Akira Kurosawa, 1954)
- Bicycle Thieves (Vittorio de Sica, 1948)
- Tokyo Story (Yasujirô Ozu, 1953)
- Rashomon (Akira Kurosawa, 1950)
